International Food & Music Festival Memory Lane
The prime mover for the initial International Food Festival in 2003 was Father Charles Phukuta Khonde, CICM, the newly arrived pastor of St. Eugene Catholic Church in Wendell, NC. Father Charles suggested a festival based on the food of our parishioners' diverse backgrounds to bring us together and ignite a new spark of life in our church community. The Festival has continued every year since, even during the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021. For more details on the early years of the International Food and Music Festival see the Festival History page.
This year, on September 24, 2022, St. Eugene presented its 20th International Food and Music Festival. We took a weekly trip down Memory Lane in honor of each of our previous Festivals, starting on May 7, 2022 with the very first Festival in 2003.
